Learn more about why we are one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas.Job SummaryThe Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) is responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating lactation plans for the breastfeeding patient, as well as for the pumping parent. The CLC will demonstrate specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding and human lactation.Reports to : Grand Beginnings Program ManagerJob Specific ResponsibilitiesDaily assignments may include but are not limited to : Collaborate with patient, patient's family, and members of the health care team to provide professional consultation and personalized assistance to expectant women or in postpartumProvide services that include direct assessment, planning, intervening, and evaluating of lactation services, education for the health team, and participation in discharge planning and follow-up activities related to lactation services.Supports the Texas 10 Step Initiative by promoting the 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.Demonstrates the proper use of a breast pump and breast pump supplies and cleaning and maintenance.All other related assigned dutiesEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED 1 year of experience working with pregnant or women in postpartumRequired Licensures / Certifications / RegistrationsCertified Lactation Counselor (CLC)Skills and AbilitiesExcellent customer service skills; Must speak, read, and write English fluentlyDemonstrates the ability to perform electronic documentation in the electronic health recordDemonstrates an understanding of basic medical terminology and abbreviationsInteraction with Other Departments and Other RelationshipsThe person in this role primarily interacts with expectant or post-partum mothers, nursing staff, vendors for breast feeding supplies, and community resources involved with patient carePhysical CapabilitiesOccasionally exerts up to 20 lbs. exerts a small amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Work involves sitting, standing and walking.Environmental / Working ConditionsThe lactation office hours are from 8am-12am, weekdays, weekends, and some holidays and 24 hour pager responsibility.
