- Collaborate with patient, patient's family, and members of the health care team to provide professional consultation and personalized assistance to expectant women or in post partum
- Provide services that include direct assessment, planning, intervening, and evaluating of lactation services, education for the health team, and participation in discharge planning and follow-up activities related to lactation services.
- Supports the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative by promoting the 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.
- Demonstrates the proper use of a breast pump and breast pump supplies and cleaning and maintenance.

- Master's Degree
- 2 years of experience working with pregnant or women in post-partumRequired Licensures / Certifications / RegistrationsN / ASkills and Abilities
- Excellent customer service skills; Must speak, read, and write English fluently
- Demonstrates the ability to perform electronic documentation in the electronic health record
- Demonstrates an understanding of basic medical terminology and abbreviationsInteraction with Other Departments and Other RelationshipsThe person in this role primarily interacts with expectant or post-partum mothers, nursing staff, vendors for breast feeding supplies, and community resources involved with patient carePhysical CapabilitiesOccasionally exerts up to 20 lbs. exerts a small amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Work involves sitting, standing and walking.Environmental / Working ConditionsThe lactation office hours are from 8am-12am, weekdays, weekends, and some holidays and 24 hour pager responsibility.
