Learn more about why we are one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas.Job SummaryThe Certified Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care by demonstrating specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding and human lactationReports to : Job Specific ResponsibilitiesDaily assignments may include but are not limited to :

• Collaborate with patient, patient's family, and members of the health care team to provide professional consultation and personalized assistance to expectant women or in post partum
• Provide services that include direct assessment, planning, intervening, and evaluating of lactation services, education for the health team, and participation in discharge planning and follow-up activities related to lactation services.
• Supports the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative by promoting the 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.
• Demonstrates the proper use of a breast pump and breast pump supplies and cleaning and maintenance.
• All other related assigned dutiesEducation and Experience
• Master's Degree
• 2 years of experience working with pregnant or women in post-partumRequired Licensures / Certifications / RegistrationsN / ASkills and Abilities
• Excellent customer service skills; Must speak, read, and write English fluently
• Demonstrates the ability to perform electronic documentation in the electronic health record
• Demonstrates an understanding of basic medical terminology and abbreviationsInteraction with Other Departments and Other RelationshipsThe person in this role primarily interacts with expectant or post-partum mothers, nursing staff, vendors for breast feeding supplies, and community resources involved with patient carePhysical CapabilitiesOccasionally exerts up to 20 lbs. exerts a small amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Work involves sitting, standing and walking.Environmental / Working ConditionsThe lactation office hours are from 8am-12am, weekdays, weekends, and some holidays and 24 hour pager responsibility.
