Job SummaryThe Respiratory Therapy Assistant (RTA) focuses students nearing graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program to have clinical training with Respiratory Therapist

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Provide assessment, treatment, and monitoring of cardiopulmonary disorder across the continuum of care
- Treat patients using oxygen and oxygen mixtures, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy
- Sets up and operates various types of respiratory equipment to be utilized in the routine treatment of respiratory diseases
- Communicate effective to care team concerning patient’s condition, results of diagnostic studies, and responses to treatment plans
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and standards of practice as defined by and/or stated by the National Board of Respiratory Care, DNV, UMC departmental standard policy and procedure manual.
- All other assigned duties related to Respiratory Therapy
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Enrolled in clinical rotations with less than 6 months remaining to finish the program
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
N/A
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to exercise independent judgment
- Maintains infection control procedures
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position has interaction with various departments and hospital staff
Physical Capabilities
Requires extended periods of standing, walking, talking, and listening. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work irregular hours and may include weekends
Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures.
