Job Description:
Assists with responding promptly to neurosurgical consults, admissions, and with provider rounds (writing notes, orders, wound care, etc.). Enters admission, pre- and post-operative and consultative orders in a timely fashion. Facilitates preparation of patients for surgery. Assists with surgical procedures after completion of RN First Assistant Certification within the Operating Room. Facilitates timely communication with family and patients. Willing to work flexible assigned shifts and be on-call. Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations.

Required Experience:
Work Experience:
1. Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the ED/ICU or other critical care setting required.
2. RN First Assistance course and criteria completed or scheduled to be completed within the first year of hire.
3. One year experience as Nurse Practitioner in Neurosurgery preferred.
License/Registration/Certification:
1. Current Advanced Nurse Practitioner from the Texas Board of Nursing required.
2. Current Advanced Nurse Practitioner Certification from the National Certification Corp. or other body accredited by the Texas Board of Nursing required.
3. Current RN license from the state of Texas required.
4. Current CPR training required.
5. ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of being in the position.
6. ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support course) preferred.
7. CCRN/CEN preferred.
Education and Training:
Master of Science in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) required.
