Senior Associate Counsel - Procurement and IS&T Full-timeShift : DayPosition Type : ExemptCome join UMMS and discover the atmosphere where talents and ideas come together to enhance patient care and advance the science of nursing.Under the limited supervision, this position is responsible for providing legal counsel regarding all types of contracts and regulatory matters, with specific specialization in procurement and information services and technology matters, to the corporate officers, managers and employees of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and its various subsidiaries and member organizations.Principal Responsibilities and TasksProvides legal support for all contracts and regulatory matters involving UMMS and UMMS member organization in the strategic sourcing, procurement and IS&T space, including contract drafting, negotiation and strategy.Serves as a legal advisor to C-Suite executives and leadership teams, with particular focus on procurement and IS&T leaders, on a wide array of topics, including legal risk mitigation, strategic initiatives and service offerings.Frequent interactions with other internal stakeholders across functional groups.High comfort providing state and health care regulatory advice in the fraud and abuse space (Stark, Anti-Kickback Statute, FCA, etc.), principally in the hospital or health system space.Mentor legal staff (law clerks, fellows and administrative support) and coordinate process, principles and practices with all attorneys in the office.Contract work, including, but not limited to, drafting / reviewing / negotiating provider agreements, vendor contracts, licensing agreements, leases, recruiting and placement contracts, managed care and consulting agreements.Analyze, facilitate, negotiate and draft complex transactions including, but not limited to, asset purchases, physician / referral source arrangements, purchases of practices and recruitment loans.Provide advice and direction to managers and employees on operational issues including, but not limited to, quality of care, informed consent, termination of care, continuity of care and regulatory compliance.Regulatory work, including researching and interpreting federal and state laws, regulations, interpretive guidelines and court cases for corporate and health care issues.Develop, review and / or revise corporate policies and procedures.Draft and present training programs on legal topics.Oversight and participation in the recruitment and selection of two to three law clerks, legal consultants and externs / interns every semester and supervision of assigned projects.Minimum Requirements : Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the bar of at least one state, preferably Maryland.7 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare as a practicing contract attorney supporting procurement and / or IS&T.Experience practicing contract law in a law firm and / or health care setting preferred.All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.#J-18808-Ljbffr
