Tobacco Prevention Coordinator - Health Promotions Program

Tobacco Prevention Coordinator Job Compensation:

• $19.00 to 21.82 Per Hour (depending on experience).

Tobacco Prevention Coordinator Job Responsibilities:

1. Provide support and actively participate in tobacco prevention and control program (DHS TPCP) best practice strategies and activities.
2. Provide leadership in the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of the WHTPN multi-year action plan.
3. Plan and implement WHLTPN coalition development and infrastructure maintenance, including recruitment, orientation, and engagement of members.
4. Implement routine internal and external communication and recognition efforts to promote the coalition and tobacco control.
5. Plan, implement, and evaluate education and training activities for WHLTPN coalition and community members.
6. Provide education to local and statewide policy makers to increase knowledge regarding tobacco prevention and control priorities.
7. Mobilize and engage youth, adults and organizations in high impact strategies surrounding tobacco prevention policies.
8. Utilize strategies and activities to gain earned media in support of WHLTPN goals.
9. Works in collaboration with all DHS TPCP local, regional, and statewide partners on local and statewide initiatives
10. Evaluates and reports all WHLTPN strategies, activities and outcomes utilizing DHS TPCP required format-TOBWIS (Tobacco Wisconsin DHS website)
11. To create, implement and maintain tobacco prevention FACT youth group.
12. Facilitate monthly in-person FACT youth meetings.
13. Maintain the WHLTPN Instagram and WHLTPN website page weekly.
14. Send out quarterly WHLTPN newsletter to coalition members.
15. Actively participate in all required DHS TPCP and UMOS activities, meetings, and trainings.

Tobacco Prevention Coordinator Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in public health, human services, social work, or social service-related field preferred; will consider a 2-year associate degree in human services, with 2 years equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the skills, abilities, and knowledge necessary to perform the work may be considered.
2. Must have over 1 year of experience in public health, human services, social work, or social service-related field.
3. Excellent organizational and people skills.
4. Strong verbal and written communication.
5. Must be tobacco-free for 6 months prior to employment date and remain tobacco-free for duration of employment.
6. Fluency in English & Spanish, both written and verbal
7. Must have a car with valid ins
8. Great attention to detail

Physical Demands:

1. Employees are frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend.
2. Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 10 lbs.
3. Required to drive.
4. Frequently exposed to moderate temperature generally encountered in a controlled temperature environment and outside setting.
5. Noise level in this work is usually semi-moderate. 

Tools & Equipment Used:

1. iPad, iPhone, laptop computers, projectors, copy/scanner machine, computer.
2. Be able to scan documents and encrypt documents as necessary
3. Use first aid equipment, fire extinguisher.
