At Umpqua Health, we’re a mission-driven organization working to improve health outcomes and ensure access to quality care for individuals and families across our community. Our work supports a healthier, more connected future—and we back that up with compassion, innovation, and real collaboration.
If you’re looking for a place where your finance skills actually matter, where your spreadsheets support something bigger than the bottom line, and where your team has heart—you’re in the right place.
What You’ll Do
We’re looking for a Controller who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves, dive into the numbers, and bring clarity, structure, and a little sparkle to our financial operations. You’ll be the backbone of our finance team—making sure our dollars make sense and our books are audit-ready (without any stress meltdowns).
Your day-to-day will look like this:
- Own the monthly close process, produce financial statements, and translate data into meaningful insights
- Build, track, and fine-tune budgets and forecasts that reflect both our mission and our strategy
- Keep our finances audit-ready and contract-compliant
- Strengthen and streamline internal controls and accounting procedures
- Collaborate with leadership on big-picture planning and financial health
- Guide and mentor a small, mighty finance team
- Present clean, clear financials to leadership and the Board—no smoke and mirrors, just solid numbers and savvy analysis
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s a plus)
- CPA preferred, not required
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably at Controller level
- Nonprofit and/or healthcare/Medicaid experience is a strong plus
- Deep knowledge of GAAP and Statutory Accounting and internal controls
- Proficiency in financial software like Sage or similar platforms, Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication skills—able to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance folks
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and deeply dependable
Compensation varies based on experience, education, and location: $100,000–$120,000 annually
