Estimator

Job Summary: Prices laminated beams, arches, decking, and installation services for prospects. Works closely with Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Vice President of Engineering, Vice President of Operations and Project Manager to give individualized attention to specific projects.

Job Requirements

Education & Training:

• Relevant Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree preferred, but not required
• Experience:
• 5 years prior estimating experience in a custom manufacturing or construction-related field required, but subject to review

Pay Range : $ 60,000. to $66,000.

Pay Commensurate with Training & Experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reading and interpreting blueprints, then doing takeoffs and pricing for jobs such as churches, riding arenas, sports facilities, concert venues, schools, salt storage buildings, highway bridges, commercial buildings, etc. These jobs are priced from $1000. to well over $1,000,000 .

• Researching and suggesting alternatives that will save Prospects and Unalam time and money by staying current with industry trends that will set Unalam apart from competitors.
• Communicating with Vice President of Engineering for value and prospect engineering.
• Communicates effectively with all Unalam employees for input on timeframe and pricing for complex jobs in order to promote productivity and teamwork
• Providing Vice President of Sales and Marketing timely estimates.
• Provides advice on budget and timeline to Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
• Answer Sales calls and provides Vice President of Sales and Marketing with updates on Prospects
• Other duties as need arises

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

• Good phone communication skills
• High-level math skills, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
• Ability to read complicated blueprints and specifications
• Highly organized, able to maintain important computer and paper files so they are accessible to anyone at Unalam
• Able to multi-task and work on several estimates simultaneously
• Building construction background is helpful
• Computer and calculator skills are essential. Programs include:
• Proprietary estimating program

• Adobe - .pdf of blueprints
• Able to adapt and adjust to changes
• Self starter - works well alone or in a team environment
• Takes responsibility for decisions and outcomes and uses judgement to prioritize projects
• Work closely with Vice President of Sales and Marketing to ensure all projects receive needed attention
• Good attendance is required
• Understands the sense of urgency needed when completing estimates in a timely manner
• Works with the Vice President of Sales and Marketing to to aggressively pursue every prospect

Physical Demands:

• Sits at desk most of the day
• Must be able to walk up and down stairs
• Some bending and stooping to reach for job files
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs (blueprints)
• Must have a clean New York State driving record
• Physical and Mental Acuity to work in an environment where strict deadlines must be met and in some cases long hours are required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
