Primary Purpose of Position
This position is the Building Environmental Services Supervisor for Team 6, responsible for directing and overseeing personnel and procedures of all shifts of the Building Services unit during the standard Monday Friday workweek and on the weekend as building and programmatic needs dictate. The supervisor must ensure excellent customer service and accurate set ups, personnel management, and APPA Level II quality cleaning while adhering to LEED Silver and GS 42, green cleaning standards. This position manages the Building Services unit and directly supervises 12 15 Building Services employees working on two separate crews.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, and one year of experience in the area assigned; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and five years experience in the area of work assigned, three of which were in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Job Duties
The University of North Carolina Charlotte Facilities Management department is seeking an outgoing motivated person to join our staff as a Building Environmental Services Supervisor (BES).

- Provide supervision for a multi-shift team of up to 15 custodial personnel in performance of duties in academic, administrative and athletic facilities.
- Assign and schedule work; establish individual workloads and assign personnel to specific work areas.
- Order and maintain supply inventory; train, counsel and evaluate performance of employees.
- Prepare personnel action memorandums; interview and recommend personnel for filling vacant positions.
- Approve leave and submit time cards in the Kronos timekeeping system and absentee lists to supervisor.
- Maintain equipment inventory and repair records; compile maintenance checklist and report needs to the supervisor.
- Perform daily inspections and correct deficiencies.
- Test and make recommendations on supply and equipment purchases.
Other Work Responsibilities
- Enforce established Facilities Management, UNC Charlotte, and State policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate the proper use of and instruct team members in the proper use and care of all manual and power equipment and chemicals required in floor maintenance, custodial, recycling, event support, and exterior litter removal functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned and/or delegated to support all operations.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- Graduation from high school and five years’ experience in the area of work assigned, three of which were in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience and knowledge of restoring floors. (i.e tile, grout, as well as other areas).
- Experience and knowledge of commercial housekeeping.
- Experience in the cleaning industry and related training (i.e Management’s Janitor University certificate, APPA’s Educational Facilities Professional (EFP), and Certified Educational Facilities Professional).
- Experience and technical knowledge expertise in the process of installing high quality aliphatic urethane products on a variety of floor coverings.
- Effective comprehensive skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
- Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
- Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
- Ability to operates assigned vehicles on and/or off campus and is required to possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver’s license upon appointment to the position.
- Strong attention to detail.

- Where applicable, must be eligible for required certification.
- Valid driver’s license required.
