Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of Academic Technologies (DAT) provides leadership in the application and use of computing technology in support of the mission of the College of Education.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
The Director of Academic Technologies (DAT) guides the development, operation, and vision for the computing resources that support the college’s research, teaching, and service objectives. The DAT provides assistance and support to department and college computing initiatives and serves as a source of technical expertise for matters related to computing in the College of Education.
Minimum Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a closely related field from an accredited university, plus 2-4 years of relevant experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
- Proven record of managing budgets and directing and motivating staff to deliver client-oriented services.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology.
- 5 years experience in Tier 2/Tier 3 customer support within Information Technology (infrastructure, operations, or development).
- 5-7 years experience working within Information Technology, preferably in an academic setting.
- P-12 and/or higher education experience.
- Management experience in a technical discipline.
- Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
