8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Monday – Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required in conjunction with planned special events.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Donor Relations Specialist plans and coordinates day-to-day activities in the Office of Donor Relations to support the University’s fundraising staff. The position’s primary functions will be to receipt and acknowledge all University gifts and assist in overseeing the management of donor outreach and retention programs and initiatives. The position will also help maintain the Donor Relations budget and assist the Senior Director. The position will work collaboratively across departments to support the development of funds, assist with the creation and execution of reporting, and help to coordinate named spaces across campus. This role will require a high level of comfort in writing and editing and detail associated with reviewing constituent data.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four year college or university and at least three years of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties
- Receipts and acknowledges all University gifts.
- Coordinates and organizes the day-to-day operations of Donor Relations serving as the primary contact for the office, maintaining the Donor Relations budget, and supporting the Senior Director.
- Creates and manages donor retention programs.
- Pulls, reviews, and edits a variety of lists and reports.
- Executes a variety of tasks around acknowledgement letters, reporting, and retention initiatives.
Other Work Responsibilities
- Supports the development of donor created funds.
- Drafts and edits a variety of materials including acknowledgement letters, reports, communications, and donor recognition.
- Manages and maintains the Donor Relations fund files and the Donor Relations process manual.
- Coordinates a variety of donor relations mailings.
- Works independently and assesses a variety of situations that may not have standard resolutions.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- Bachelor’s Degree with three or more years of professional experience in Donor Relations, Advancement Operations, or Development.
- Prior work experience in higher education or non-profits.
- Experience with managing a departmental budget.
- Superior organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to independently coordinate, manage, and complete assignments in a timely manner.
- The ideal candidate will enjoy working in an office environment, possess strong writing and editing skills, and will be comfortable spending the majority of their time in highly detailed work.
- Candidates should like structure to their days and also be adaptable to the demands of a dynamic environment, all while maintaining a positive attitude.
