What are the responsibilities and job description for the Departmental Deposit Specialist position at UNC Finance and Operations?
The Deposit Specialist is a liaison between the Cashier's Office and campus departments. The Office of the University Cashier serves as the central repository for most of the university's receipts. Most departments that receive funds accumulate those receipts in their offices and prepare daily cash transmittals through the Departmental Deposit System. The Departmental Deposit Specialist receives and validates these deposits and then compiles them into a single daily deposit to the State Treasurer's account on behalf of the University. The Departmental Deposit Specialist also provides training by email, Teams, Zoom, or phone to departmental staff preparing these deposits. This position shares responsibility for meeting a wide variety of customer service needs. Students and their benefactors visit, phone, and email our office for assistance with various questions and concerns. Staff must have a thorough understanding of student account fundamentals and be able to analyze a student account.
This position is a full-time, on-site role requiring daily in-person attendance. The Deposit Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial accuracy and efficiency of the University's deposit processes while maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance.
