With about 30 employees and entering into our peak season, we’re seeking a Baker to join our growing team! What You’ll Do:
As a Baker, you’ll be at the heart of our café culinary operations, ensuring every pastry, bread, and dessert meets our high standards. In this part-time role, you’ll join the bakery team making sure our customers get the most delicious baked goods possible. Your days will be a mix of:
- Preparing Our Bakery Menu: Prepare and bake breakfast pastries, breads, lunch items and desserts from our bakery menu. You love baking, even if you’re a beginner. Relevant experience or training in a bakery or restaurant preferred but not required. Baking and Pastry Arts certificate or equivalent professional training is a plus.
- Baking to Perfection: Prepare, produce, and bake everything from breakfast pastries to desserts, ensuring consistency and quality with every batch. You’ll draw on your ability to follow recipes accurately, handle multiple tasks at once, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintaining & Organizing: Keep the bakery clean, safe, and organized by adhering to food safety and hygiene guidelines. From setting times and speed controls on mixing machines to ensuring proper food labeling and packaging, you enjoy supporting the bakery department’s success at every level. Your knowledge of safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices will ensure our bakery is always in top shape.
- Managing Inventory & Waste: Support the bakery team ensuring inventory is always stocked with the necessary ingredients by communicating when items are low while also minimizing waste. Your ability to perform basic math and contribute to inventory management will keep our operations running smoothly.
- Supporting the Mission: Take on other duties as needed to advance UCR’s mission, including learning more about baking and pastry trends for your personal growth and career development. Your self-motivation and passion for baking will drive you to continuously improve and innovate.
- Being a Team Player: Take on other duties as required to meet the needs of the organization. Your willingness to step in wherever needed will help us all succeed together.
