SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for the continued development of the accounting function of the organization. The Staff Accountant will under general direction, perform professional accounting work including the maintenance and review of financial records; preparation of various reports and financial statements and will perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility as directed by leadership.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Full-Cycle Accounting
- Developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Inspect account books for efficiency and accuracy
- Prepare and post journal entries as well as adjustments and accruals
- Monitor monthly expense reports and see that they are posted to the general ledger accurately and in a timely manner
- Perform monthly account reconciliations including but not limited to the reconciliation of cash accounts and various other balance sheet accounts
- Coordinating, preparing, and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Assist with the preparation of various tax returns including but not limited to Sales & Use, Franchise & Excise, and various income tax returns
- Perform monthly bank settlements
- Maintain fixed asset schedules
- Maintain prepaid schedule
- Overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting
- Coordinating and/or preparing tax schedules, returns and information.
- Assist with any audits or data requests as necessary
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) with the ability to work effectively and efficiently cross functionally
- Problem solving and analytical with the ability to resolve problems in a timely manner
- Ability to work effectively at the micro level while remaining aware of the macro
- Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships
- Ability to multitask
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, attention to detail and organizational skills
- Retail accounting experience preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities but will indirectly oversee other individuals in the finance / accounting function
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in Finance, Business, or Accounting
- 1 – 3 years of experience in general accounting or related
- Computer skills required: Experience working with Large ERP system (NetSuite Preferred); Microsoft Office – specifically intermediate Excel skills (VLookup, SUMIF, Pivot)
