What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista position at Under-Study?

The Barista’s priority is to greet guests and provide a welcoming and efficient service. The Barista is responsible for knowing the different types of coffee drinks as well as being knowledgeable about our coffee program with Black Oak. We encourage extensive coffee education as well as creativity in assisting with crafting seasonal coffee and tea drinks. We are a new café/marketplace, and we will be evolving. As we grow, YOU are an intricate part of our growth.
As an employee of Under-Study each role is interchangeable, but each team member will take ownership of an AOR = Area of Responsibility. We work as a team and no task is beneath us.
Job Responsibilities:
· Greeting all guests in a timely and warm manner. Have a sense of urgency and efficiency when executing coffee orders for guests.
· Knowledge of our coffee program and why we chose Black Oak Coffee. What makes their brand unique and special.
· Following SOPs for cleanliness, maintenance and use of all our coffee equipment.
· Learning and executing all training materials from the Under-Study manual with a focus on our coffee program.
· Full knowledge of food and beverage ingredients to be able to describe all items to guests and have awareness of food sensitivities and allergies.
· Knowledge of TOAST POS system. Being able to execute a variety of POS functions such as processing payments, handling returns, entering guest purchases in an accurate and efficient manner.
· Performing opening and end of day functions pertaining to the coffee station and overall café/marketplace with a focus on cleanliness, restocking and keeping all shelving, refrigerators and displays organized.
· General maintenance of café service areas, including sweeping common areas, wiping down and setting up tables in service stations in indoor and outdoor spaces, stocking retail sections, coffee stations and water stations.
· Keeping track of any coffee supplies needed
· Restocking food or beverage items both refrigerated and displayed.
· Keeping a detailed eye on guest needs and providing excellent guest service by being aware of visual cues and understanding the steps of food service.
· Assisting with bathroom checks and restocking every 30 minutes.
· Full understanding of opening and closing procedures using your opening and closing checklist as a guide.

Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
· Food handlers’ certificate
· 1 Year Barista
Salary : $17 - $25
