Summary:
As a Fabricator Welder at UMX, you will play a crucial role in delivering top-notch craftsmanship on various projects. We seek individuals who not only have the technical expertise but also a strong sense of responsibility, problem-solving skills, and a dedication to continuous self-improvement. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in shop fabrication, with proven ability to operate fabricating machines such as saws, ironworkers, drill presses, and grinders to cut, punch, drill, or form and assemble components. Experience in layout work is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Blueprint and Sketch Interpretation: Accurately read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to fabricate metal parts according to precise specifications.
- Precision Fabrication: Perform basic layout tasks such as hole positioning, angle cuts, and other essential fabrication duties using shop math and tools.
- Machine Operation: Operate a variety of shop equipment, including ironworkers, saws, drill presses, oxy/acetylene torches, plasma cutters, and more with a high level of proficiency.
- Hand Tool Proficiency: Skillfully use hand tools such as grinders and mag-base drills for various fabrication tasks.
- Problem-Solving: Exhibit a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to think quickly and adapt to changing project demands.
- Self-Motivation: Work independently, managing tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Certification and Training: Opportunity to earn certifications in SMAW & FCAW weld processes; experience in pipe fitting layouts is a bonus.
- Commitment to Safety and Reliability: Maintain reliable transportation and be willing to work overtime when required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Regular use of hands and arms, with the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- The work environment may require adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment.
