Land Use/Zoning Associate Attorney
Underwood Scoggins, LLC is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Land Use/Zoning Division at the firm’s office in Cumming.
We are looking to add an associate attorney to our land use/zoning team who can work in a fast-paced environment, is organized, detail-oriented and able to think on their feet. Though recent law school graduates will be considered, the ideal candidate has 1-3 years of experience in local government law, zoning/land use, real estate law, including real estate development, and other real estate related matters. Lobbying experience is highly favorable. Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills, very strong legal research, writing and verbal communication skills required.
Roles & Responsibilities:
· Review zoning and development laws, ordinances, surveys, site plans, and environmental reports
· Research real estate deeds/records and plats
· Conduct research on current caselaw
· Prepare land use applications
· Represent clients before local governments
· Direct client-contact with consultations, updates and strategy meetings
· Drafting deeds, easements, and title instruments
· Property Tax Appeals
· Business and Real Estate Transactions
Requirements/Qualifications:
· Undergraduate and postgraduate degree in law from accredited universities
· Current admission to the State Bar of Georgia
· Self-starter who acts with a sense of urgency
· Excellent oral, interpersonal, and writing skills
· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
· Ability to attend evening hearings
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
