Background

Office/Unit/Project Description

Hosted by the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office (MPTF Office) is the only United Nations unit exclusively dedicated to the design and administration of multi-stakeholder pooled financing instruments. Since 2004, it has supported over 200 UN-implemented pooled funds, providing an integrated platform of inter-agency pooled fund services to help UN organizations and partners make fast and efficient progress towards collective outcomes, like the 2030 Agenda. The MPTF Office’s cumulative portfolio is close to $20 billion in total, with more than $1 billion transferred in 2024 to participating UN organizations, through more than 100 active pooled financing mechanisms.

The MPTF Office’s trustee and fund design and administration service is a standard-setter in the UN System - professionalized, highly transparent and firewalled from all UN implementing entities. The MPTF Office has put in place a number of tools and systems to support its transparent and accessible fund administration services such as its digital platform the MPTF Office Gateway. As a shared UN service provider, the MPTF Office operates in a distinct and dedicated business unit. It provides an integrated service platform that, in addition to core trust fund design and administration functions, provides complimentary services to users like data analytics, research administration, and knowledge management.

Scope of Work

The Communications and Partnerships Analyst contributes to the development and dissemination of key communication assets and strengthen the visibility and impact of the office’s communication initiatives. This role will focus on supporting editorial and technical backs-stopping for the MPTFO Gateway website, maintaining key communication platforms and supporting various office campaigns

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Editorial and technical back-stopping support for Gateway:
  • Review and update key corporate communications pages (bi-annually).
  • Develop fund narratives as needed (1-2 per month), reflecting fund creation updates and narrative revisions as necessary.
  • Upload, maintain and organize documents and content on Gateway.
  • Provide support for Fund Administration System (FAS)/ Fund Management Platform (FMP) tools on Drupal.
  • Conduct targeted data extraction and analysis for on-going reporting needs.
  • Development of key communication assets for dissemination through priority channels
  • Develop engaging social media content for X, LinkedIn on a quarterly basis to amplify pooled fund initiatives and scale digital outreach, aligning with SDG-of-the-month and UN Secretariat Grid planning.
  • Develop and source content for the MPTF Office quarterly Newsletter every 10–12-weeks, including producing short-form assets such as the “Pooled Funding Dictionary”, and “By the Numbers” features.
  • Produce bi-monthly blog posts and practitioners’ interviews pieces highlighting best practices, success stories and insights from the pooled funding system among other areas.
  • Editorial and administrative support on Annual Report (Q1-Q2) and the Financing the UNDS report (Q2-Q3).
  • Develop communication guidelines through drafting “road rules” for the Office and Fund, facilitating up to two rounds of feedback and discussions with key Fund colleagues.
  • Communication platforms and knowledge management support
  • Support the monitoring and triaging of the mptfo@undp.org account, guided by the account manager.
  • Provide support to maintenance of the social media content, including on X and LinkedIn to ensure regular engagement and visibility.
  • Contribute to knowledge management through strengthening internal knowledge-sharing systems on both contact databases, and tracking partnerships on the partnership ‘tracker’.
  • Support for Pooled Fund results ‘campaign’:
  • Enhance visibility and increase coverage and understanding of MPTFO’s work through providing editorial and administrative support to the Road to 2030 Results Campaign including:
  • Identifying partners from key funds to participate and source key results
  • Developing assets for dissemination, complementing and expanding current social media outreach efforts.


The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

The Communications and Partnerships Analyst will report to the Communications and Partnerships Specialist, MPTFO.

Min. Education Requirements

Minimum Qualifications of the Successful IPSA

  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Communication, Public Relations, International Relations, Political Sciences, or relevant Social Sciences. OR
  • A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.


Min. Years Of Relevant Work Experience

  • Applicants with Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in the area of communications, public relations, advocacy or related area is required.


Required Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Microsoft office packages (Word, Excel, etc) is required.


Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section

  • Experience working with the UN or in the development sector.
  • Experience working with pooled funding mechanisms
  • Knowledge of and experience with blogging or storytelling.
  • Experience in providing support in the production of communication products such as reports, publications, presentations, graphics or newsletters.
  • Experience in development of content for websites.


Required Language(s)

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
