We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to develop, implement, and maintain company-wide EHS programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal regulations. This individual will be responsible for regularly monitoring regulatory compliance, identifying applicable laws and policies, implementing necessary changes, and fostering a strong culture of safety within the organization. Additionally, the EHS Associate will support sustainability initiatives, conduct risk assessments, and oversee safety training programs while ensuring that all compliance documentation is properly maintained for audits and regulatory reviews. Beyond compliance, this role is critical in mitigating risks that could have significant consequences for the company and its employees. By strictly enforcing strict safety protocols, the EHS Associate will help prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, reducing the likelihood of accidents. Through diligent oversight and proactive safety initiatives, the EHS Associate will play a vital role in protecting employees, maintaining regulatory adherence, and safeguarding the company's reputation and financial health.
Key Responsibilities :
Regulatory Compliance & Safety Management
- Monitor and assess relevant policies from governing bodies (federal, state, and municipal) that impact company operations.
- Analyze compliance requirements and integrate them efficiently into company procedures.
- Stay informed on changing EHS regulations and ensure compliance with updates as they arise.
- Evaluate which regulatory changes are applicable and take proactive steps to implement them.
- Work with internal teams and subject matter experts to integrate relevant regulatory changes into daily operations.
- Maintain thorough records of compliance reviews for audit purposes and regulatory reference.
- Monitor company operations for adherence to established policies.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Programs
Maintain and regularly update a database of EHS questions and answers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with changing industry standards.Maintain a list of required PPE based on job titles and workplace risks.Review and complete EHS customer forms and surveys to ensure regulatory alignment.Work cross-functionally to integrate EHS requirements into policies, procedures, and agreements.Update and manage the Safety, Health & Environmental Program Manual.Conduct EHS pre-qualification assessments and audits for contractors and suppliers.Track OSHA / EMR reporting, analyze trends, and develop corrective actions for safety improvements.Responsible for the coordination and implementation of EHS training and onboarding programs for employees.Facilitate and oversee the company’s Safety Committee, ensuring emergency evacuation procedures and safety best practices are up to date.Conduct site evacuation drills as prescribed by city ordinance / regulations, ensuring the effectiveness and timeliness of the drills.Sustainability & Environmental Management
Lead EcoVadis sustainability reporting and drive an annual year-over-year improvement in sustainability performance.Manage Energy Star reporting for corporate buildings in NJ and any additional states or countries where the company operates.Develop and implement company-wide environmental impact reduction strategies.Integrate sustainability principles into corporate policies and operational practices.Establish environmental performance targets in collaboration with key stakeholders.Maintain sustainability reports in compliance with regulatory and stakeholder requirements.Promote environmental responsibility across the organization and among contracted partners.Oversee PFAS reporting to ensure environmental compliance.Manage Conflict Minerals Reporting to meet corporate social responsibility standards.Maintain and track Certificates of Insurance (COI) for regulatory compliance.Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.2 years of experience in EHS compliance, safety program management, or sustainability initiatives for a multi-national corporation.Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and industry-specific safety regulations.Experience with HSE audits, training programs, and risk assessments.Familiarity with EcoVadis sustainability reporting and Energy Star compliance is a plus.Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret safety & environmental data.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across departments.Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple compliance requirements.
Certifications in Associate Safety Professional (ASP) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Teams.
