UNICO is seeking a seasoned Construction Inspector who has experience dealing with different types of infrastructure including roadways and paving, structures (bridges), curb, gutter, sidewalk, underground utilities, earthwork, etc. Must have 5 years of applicable experience. Must possess a thorough understanding of plans and specifications, Caltrans, and local agency requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

· Provide daily inspections and complete documentation including daily reports, project photographs, etc.

· Coordinate with clients/owners, other consultants, contractors, materials testers and others involved with the project.

· Assist Resident Engineers and provide input on project schedule, extra work bills, potential change orders, and communication with businesses and residents.

· Read and interpret project plans and specifications

· Monitor construction for compliance with project documents including collecting and checking material tags and certificates of compliance

· Measure, calculate, and document quantities of installed materials in accordance with client policies and procedures

· Inspect road and bridge construction (based on Caltrans Standards), including checking grades, formwork, rebar placement, concrete batch tickets, curing method, etc.

· Communicate with project team members and provide recommendations

· Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

· Excellent communication skills

· Working knowledge of MS Office Suite

· Ability to use computer to complete project documentation

· Thorough understanding of CAL OSHA practices and procedures

-Bridge construction inspection experience required

· Knowledge of Caltrans procedures and standards highly preferred

· Ability to pass a pre employment drug screening

· Clean Drivers license and DMV record required

Education/Experience:

· Minimum 5 years’ experience for transportation, structures and utility projects

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in a construction inspectors’ capacity

· High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)

Pay: $135,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
