SALARY
This role is a part of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 302, and is paid at $36.37 / hour at the time of hire, pending licenses.
ABOUT THIS POSITION
As a Building Engineer, you'll help keep things running smoothly and ensure our commercial building portfolio is a top-tier environment for everyone who walks through our doors. You’ll handle everything from preventive maintenance to on-the-spot repairs while responding to tenant requests and work orders.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
- Performs general maintenance as directed by preventive maintenance schedule
- Performs specific maintenance and repairs using hand and power tools as directed by work orders including general carpentry, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing (may perform these duties with a high-level expertise in one or more areas)
- Performs some special project work for tenants as directed
- Participates in the Engineering on-call schedule
- Interfaces with service partners and contractors in coordination of work and inspection of work
- Drives company vehicle, as needed

SKILLS
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to work cooperatively
- Proficient in using computer software programs such as Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
- General maintenance and carpentry skills
- May have expertise in one or more area of maintenance engineering
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Current driver’s license required
- 1-3 years’ experience in property / building engineering required
- 2-year technical accreditation preferred
- Current CFC card preferred
- Current Boiler license preferred
- Current specialty 07 electrical training card preferred
- Current EPA certification preferred

- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables
- Mathematics Ability: Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two digit numbers; to perform the basic arithmetic operations with money; to perform operations with units such as inch, foot, and yard / ounce and pound
- Language Ability: Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; ability to read at a slow rate; ability to define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation
