Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, construction industry practices, and financial management. You will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with regulations specific to the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) specific to construction projects.
• Track and analyze job costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers and field superintendents to monitor budgets and forecast expenses.
• Process change orders and ensure proper billing procedures.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal tax laws, including sales and use taxes.
• Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports
• Maintain accurate lien waivers and contractor documentation.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
• Office management and administration
• Utilize construction accounting software (QuickBooks).
• Implement best practices for tracking and reporting financial data.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
Skills:
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, job costing, and WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with AIA billing and lien laws
