Job Description:
Splunk Alerting & Monitoring:
- Implement and maintain Splunk email alerting mechanisms.
- Collect, monitor, and analyze infrastructure metrics using Splunk.
- Configure and fine-tune alerts to minimize false positives and ensure system stability.
License Optimization:
- Employ efficient log filtering methodologies to reduce Splunk license consumption.
- Optimize log storage and indexing strategies to minimize unnecessary data ingestion.
Scripting and Automation:
- Utilize Python for automation tasks related to Splunk monitoring and alerting.
- Develop scripts to integrate with Splunk for custom reporting and data extraction.
Documentation & SOP Management:
- Prepare comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Splunk alerting and monitoring processes.
- Collaborate with the support team for review and approval of all documentation.
- Ensure SOPs are regularly updated and aligned with support processes.
Cross-team Collaboration:
- Work closely with multiple vendor development teams to ensure proper monitoring and alerting integrations.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure a seamless monitoring process.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure that all monitoring and alerting requirements are met.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong experience with Splunk alerting, monitoring, and log filtering techniques.
- Proficiency in Python scripting for automating monitoring tasks.
- Experience in preparing SOP documentation and driving the review/approval process with support teams.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with multiple teams and vendors. Ability to manage and coordinate with multiple vendor development teams.
- Familiarity with infrastructure metrics collection using Splunk and other related tools.
