Position: School Psychologist
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: EC Director
Purpose: The School provides services designed to facilitate learning and promote the cognitive, social, and personal development of all students.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate degree in School Psychology
Minimum Qualifications or Standards required to perform essential job functions:
Physical Requirements: Position requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. This includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to parents, students, and staff.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow written and oral instructions. You must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in Standard English.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. You must be adaptable to top performing under minimal to moderate levels of stress.
Assessment: Performance of this job will be assessed annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on assessment of administrative personnel.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year as established by the Board.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Help identify students early on who may be experiencing learning or adjustment challenges.
- Determine and evaluate the academic, developmental, and behavioral needs of individuals and groups, along with the environmental influences impacting their success.
- Carry out evaluations that are appropriate to the concerns presented, following current professional practices.
- Perform assessments with attention to each student’s unique background, including cultural, socioeconomic, and disability-related factors.
- Combine and analyze assessment data to form educational hypotheses related to instruction, service eligibility, and placement decisions.
- Assist in designing and implementing strategies, programs, or services that align with the needs identified through evaluation.
- Provide insight and education to staff and families on how psychological principles, learning theories, and child development apply in the school setting.
- Coordinate and lead training sessions or workshops for school personnel and/or parents.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to utilize positive human relation skills with all staff.
- Skills in operating a computer with word processing, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing applications.
- Ability to compile and summarize information.
- Ability to resolve problem situations with sound judgment.
- Ability to demonstrate proper telephone etiquette.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters relating to the school system.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments.
- Ability to compose correspondence independently.
- Ability to work in the absence of supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Any other assigned duties.

- Advanced degree in School Psychology/NC Licensure (or license eligible) in School Psychology
- Experience working with children and adolescents, preferably in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of K-12 educational systems and processes.
