POSITION TITLE: Credit Analyst
REPORTS TO: Chief Lending Officer
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
Position Overview:
The Credit Analyst position at Union Bank & Trust is a Bank Officer position primarily responsible for underwriting requests for credit extensions to new and existing commercial and individual clients. They will perform detailed financial analysis for all lending opportunities, prepare credit approval, review, and modification requests for presentation, and ensure compliance with the bank’s credit policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
• Analyze economic data and financial statements of individuals or businesses to identify the degree of risk involved with extending credit.
• Prepare new credit presentations and perform annual credit reviews in entirety. Prepare recommendations of credit actions based on analysis.
• Communicates/Documents all credit actions and gathers appropriate credit approvals.
• For individuals, perform research to verify employment and income, inspect reports from credit reporting agencies, and reviews FICO scores.
• Perform financial, economic, and managerial analysis of all prospective and existing loan relationships.
• Use computer software to further evaluate customers’ financial status and produce financial ratios.
• Ensure compliance with Bank loan policies and procedures.
• Responds to loan-related customer inquiries and escalating issues as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Competencies:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as analysis software.
• Basic understanding of relevant policies, procedures and strategies used in credit analysis.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and problems.
• Able to multi-task and work on multiple projects at once.
Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related major is required.
• 0-1 years of experience in Commercial Banking, Commercial Underwriting, Financial analysis, or similar experience.
