DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY :
Under the general supervision of the Preschool Coordinator, the Preschool Instructor performs specialized work in the instruction and training of children identified with developmental disabilities. In addition, the instructor will be working with a peer population to integrate the children with developmental disabilities into the traditional educational environment provided by the county's public school systems. At all times, the Preschool Instructor must strive to meet the UCBDD published Mission Statement and exemplify the UCBDD defined Core Values.
QUALIFICATIONS
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Experience -
- Bachelor's degree.
- Pre-kindergarten certification with validation for preschool special needs or
- Early Childhood Intervention Specialist License from the Ohio Department of Education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to :
1. Administers evaluative instruments to each child under his / her instruction in order to determine individual needs.
a. Completes Get It, Got It, Go, ASQ-SE, and Outcomes a minimum of two times per year.
b. Regular updates of assessments (AEPS)
2. Creates an Individual Education Plan (IEP) based upon a multi-factored assessment, in conjunction with the input of a multi-disciplinary team and parents
a. IEP reflects the child's needs and family priorities
b. IEP outcomes reflect sequential order
c. Conducts regular team meetings.
3. Plans and implements unit of instruction relevant to persisting life problems of each student under his / her instruction based upon developmentally appropriate practice.
a. Collaborates with preschool team for planning
c. Provides lesson plans in a timely manner.
4. Plans and implements daily lesson plans designed to meet the unit and IEP objectives.
a. Provides activities of instructional value for the entire period
b. Lessons are appropriate to the child's age and developmental level.
c. Routines are established and consistent
d. Ensures the child is engaged in each activity
e. Plan is flexible and is adjustable when necessary.
5. Relates program philosophy, procedures and goals to the general public.
a. Regular communications with the family
b. Participates in public relations activities
6. Availability for parent conferences as scheduled.
7. Maintains accurate and current records

8. Maintains a cooperative relationship with co-workers and families of the children under his / her instruction.
