DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Result Area #1: MENTOR PROGRAM
- Recruit, interview and train mentors in order to provide a mentor for each Life Recovery Program participant
- Ensure all mentors understand and practice UGM’s cultural core values and their indicators
- Ensure Aftercare is collaborating with LIFE Recovery Program to promote successful transition and continued recovery of Program Graduates
- Provide and participate in all Mentor Trainings and Monthly Support Meetings
- Distribute monthly report to Recovery Program and Site Director
Key Result Area #2: LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT
- Attend specified treatment/program team and planning meetings to discuss the effectiveness of collaboration and programming components.
- Develop, train, and supervise aftercare volunteer support team, meeting consistently to ensure continuity of care
- Ensure Recovery Director is aware of concerns and issues regarding staff, residents, and program components
- Collaborate with Aftercare Coordinators at each UGM recovery center to ensure consistency of Aftercare support
Key Result Area #3: RECOVERY SUPPORT MEETINGS
- Manage weekly Recovery for Life 12-step meeting
- Ensure the Recovery for Life 12-Step meetings are aligned with each site and that there is continuity within all LIFE Recovery Programs
- Encourage, educate and develop leaders for the Recovery for Life 12-Step meeting
- Provide leadership and resources for the Recovery for Life 12-Step meeting
- Provide the LIFE Recovery Program team and Site Director with a monthly attendance record
Key Result Area #4: AFTERCARE/RELAPSE PREVENTION PLANS
- Work with Staff and Program teams to develop individual Aftercare plans for each LIFE Recovery Program resident
- Train Staff on implementation of Aftercare plans
- Coach Staff and Volunteers on follow-up to the Aftercare plans
- Monitor and track outcomes
Key Result Area #5: MANAGEMENT OF TRANSITIONAL HOUSING
- Collaborate with the LIFE Recovery Program team on eligible applicants for the Transitional Housing
- Collect and review applications for Transitional Housing
- Schedule and complete applicant interviews including contract, budget and house rules and expectations
- Schedule and complete move-in/out inspections
- Submit Request for Maintenance Forms-RFM’s for any repairs required
- Keep track of all rents received and deliver vacate notices
Key Result Area #6: TEACHING
- Provide instruction in 12-step and recovery classes as requested
- Provide a Relapse Prevention Seminar once per trimester
- Provide a Mentee Orientation once per phase
Key Result Area #7: RESOURCE
- Build and maintain connections with outside support agencies including AA, NA and Celebrate Recovery, and other Treatment Facilities
- Build and maintain connections with housing options for transition
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Committed Christian, able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry for the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill. Grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of the body of Christ. In accordance with Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.
- Strong Interpersonal skills - exercise compassion and discernment while modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.
- Able and willing, as a unified team member, to honor the leadership, chain of command, and standards and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission.
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook); able to complete documents, reports and accurately record information. Willing to continue education as needed or required.
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and instructional.
- Must have a teachable spirit and the ability manage multiple emotional and task related variables, listen, and make sound decisions in alignment with UGM’s purpose.
- Minimum 5 years of sobriety, if in recovery.
- Insightful, trustworthy, honest, reliable, model appropriate boundaries, and strong work ethic.
- Valid Washington or Idaho driver’s license– required.
- CPR/First Aid certification – required.
- Yearly TB clearance – required.
- Criminal background check clearance – required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%
- Work is primarily indoors and may require climbing three flights of stairs, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building - Continuously.
- Requires working with a diverse population, many of whom struggle with homelessness, addiction and mental illness – Continuously.
- Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about all of the facilities on a regular and ongoing basis – Continuously.
- Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – Continuously.
- Requires weekly travel between facilities in Spokane and CDA—Continuously
- Requires late shift start and end times—Continuously
- Requires frequent meetings and/or phone calls with a person in relapse—Frequently
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
- Computer (Word, Excel, Database, Outlook, Internet), Copier/printer, Phone, Fax, Breathalyzer, and Drug Testing Kit.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Recovery Coach, Peer Support, CDP or related field – preferred.
- 5 year’s prior related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
