What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Director position at UniSea, Inc.?
The IT Director ensures that UniSea’s IT infrastructure is robust, secure and scalable to support our business objectives. The person in this role is responsible for strategic planning and tactical execution in support of all company divisions’ technical needs and anticipated future requirements. This role oversees the IT Division as well as the activities of external vendors and consultants.
Essential Duties
- Develop IT strategies designed to support UniSea’s business and financial goals. Working with the IT Division and company leaders, develop an IT roadmap that provides company-wide transparency into all IT projects, priorities and objectives.
- Oversee the management of IT operations including all systems, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, data management, disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Determine optimum IT solutions by collaborating with other departments to understand their technology needs. Provide expertise in considering various options available and the cost effectiveness of each.
- Oversee work provided by consultants and software vendors to implement software, software modifications, interfaces, and data conversions along with evaluating their activities and performance.
- Lead and mentor UniSea’s team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and outstanding customer service. Provide opportunities for professional growth and continual learning for each team member. Set team and individual goals and hold each person accountable for meeting them.
- Ensure the security of IT systems and data, implementing robust cybersecurity measures.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to keep UniSea at the forefront of technological advancements.
- Build and manage IT budgets, resources, policies and procedures.
- Collect and analyze data to help support business decisions. Assist other departments in identifying key metrics and reporting requirements.
- Oversee the development, design and preparation of system documentation. The documentation will include flow charts or Warnier / Orr diagrams, data flow diagrams, record layouts, technical notes and user manuals.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of system and building security resources, allocating users with security access to the computer system, while maintaining security of confidential information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required education, skills and experience
This is a salaried exempt position with a salary of $177,000 – $210,000 per year.
