Summary/Objective
The bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining records of financial transactions of accounts, posting transactions, and performing financial calculations and general ledger duties.
Essential Functions

- Reconciles accounts, prepares computer input items, checks and balances reports, prints notices, interest, expense, and IRA checks and statements.
- Processes overdrafts, stop payments, non-post, return items, applies charges as necessary and maintains records.
- Assists in researching miss-posted items by reviewing proof transit records/images to accomplish necessary correction adjustments.
- Handles telephone inquiries from customers and other bank personnel.
- Operates the scanners according to specific detailed procedures to encode, scan, endorse, image, sort and total bank transactions.
- Balances and batches work processed and researches machine tapes and documents to locate and resolve balancing, rejections, or other errors.
- Initiates changes to customer accounts and bank records for corrections.
- Develops understanding and keeps current on ACH/wire transfer rules, regulations, and software changes.
- Responsible for daily processing of customer ACH files and incoming and outgoing wire transfers.
- Produces daily reports of Fedline usage and maintains customer information.
- Follows up with customers regarding NOC’s and returned transactions.
- Prepares statements for mailing; processes mail.
- Consistently demonstrates appropriate interpersonal communication skills with customers, coworkers, and outside vendors.
- Follows all Unison Bank policies and procedures.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, 10-key calculator, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role. The employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position. The employee is occasionally required to move about inside the office as well as position self to maintain files and file cabinets. The employee is regularly required to handle paper documents and operate a computer and keyboard. The employee is regularly required to communicate with customers and other staff members and exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and documents.

Required Education and Experience
High school degree or equivalent; 6 months to 2 years of related experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
