Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced financial aid professional to join our team. The Financial Aid Officer is responsible for assisting students in obtaining the financial resources necessary to pursue their educational goals. This role involves evaluating financial aid applications, advising students on financial aid options, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The Financial Aid Officer plays a critical role in supporting student success by helping to make education accessible and affordable.
Job Description:
1. Financial Aid Advising:
- Provide one-on-one counseling to students and families regarding financial aid options, application processes, and eligibility requirements.
- Assist students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other financial aid forms.
- Explain financial aid award letters and package details to students and families.
2. Application and Verification:
· Review and evaluate financial aid applications to determine eligibility for various types of aid, including federal, state, and institutional funds.
· Conduct verification of student and parent information as required by federal regulations.
· Ensure timely and accurate processing of financial aid applications and documents.
3. Compliance and Reporting:
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies related to financial aid.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial aid transactions and communications.
· Prepare and submit required reports to managers and institutional stakeholders.
4. Student Support and Retention:
· Collaborate with other campus departments to support student retention and success.
· Provide financial literacy education and resources to help students manage their finances and make informed decisions.
· Assist students with resolving financial aid issues and appeals.
5. Professional Development:
· Stay current with changes in financial aid regulations, policies, and best practices.
· Attend training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills.
· Participate in professional organizations and networks related to financial aid administration.
6. Customer Service:
· Provide excellent customer service to students, families, and other stakeholders.
· Respond promptly to inquiries and provide accurate and helpful information.
· Foster a welcoming and supportive environment for all students seeking financial aid assistance.
7. Collaboration and Communication:
· Work closely with admissions, registrar, and business office staff to ensure seamless coordination of student services.
· Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues through various channels (e.g., in-person, phone, email).
· Participate in campus meetings and committees as needed.
8. Technology and Systems Management:
· Utilize and maintain the student information system (SIS) and other relevant software to manage student records.
· Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy through the use of technology.
9. Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution:
· Address and resolve issues related to student financing.
· Implement solutions to improve processes and enhance the student experience.
10. Ethics and Integrity:
· Uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity in all interactions with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders, ensuring compliance with Unitech Training Academy's policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Finance, Business, Education) preferred (relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of degree).
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in financial aid administration or a related role preferred.
· Strong knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and processes.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
· Proficiency in using financial aid management systems and software.
· Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
