This position will be working in Blount County.
United Ability is an organization that provides a variety of services to individuals with disabilities. We are currently seeking candidates to join our team as a Teacher/Transition Specialist to work with high school students in the Blount County area. This role will coordinate and implement the program by onboarding students, informing families/caregivers of services, and job coaching students at the worksite to prepare them for competitive employment. Each day you will be a part of assisting the students reach their future employment goals and you to see how much your work matters!
Collaborating with other team members, you will:
- Perform intake on students
- Work with host site to set up work areas that are conducive to the student’s skills and interests
- Communicate with school staff, host site staff, and Alabama Department of Rehabilitative Services (ADRS) to build rapport and maintain positive relationships
- Document services and complete necessary paperwork for billing
- Provide onsite job coaching to students during summer months
Applicant general qualifications include:
- High school diploma (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Excellent communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Successful completion of motor vehicle screening
- Ability to work some nights and weekends
