Assistant Program Director

Schedule: 25-30 hours min. per week / In-Person

Job Type: Part Time

Reports To: Program Director, Director of School-Based Programs & Director of Operations

Pay Range: $20 to $25 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Program Director will work directly under the supervision of the Program Director and Director of School-Based Programs. The Assistant Program Director will be responsible for the daily oversight of program and facility operations in addition to staff supervision. The Assistant Program Director should be familiar with a wide variety of social services and available community resources, with a passion for community outreach, strong attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Employees are responsible for complying with all UAU standards.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  • In the absence of the Program Director, assume their responsibilities
  • Maintain files and records and assist with data entry
  • Supervise participants and staff
  • Assist with participant arrival and dismissal
  • Communication with participants and families as required
  • Model, enforce, teach and develop age appropriate social, physical and emotional behaviors
  • Employ positive behavior management strategies for disruptive and negative behaviors
  • Demonstrate positive leadership and act as a positive role model to participants and staff
  • Participate in ongoing professional development
  • Abide by all safety protocols as outlined by Department of Health/OCFS, DYCD and UAU

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years supervisory experience required
  • 2 years of experience working with children, required
  • Associates degree, required. Bachelors degree, preferred.
  • Must be culturally competent - ability to understand, be sensitive to the needs of, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures
  • Must pass reference checks and background screenings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and mathematical skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate ability to conduct and complete work independently
  • Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed
  • Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes

Specific vision and hearing abilities are required by this job as outlined below.

  • Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need.
  • Working both indoors and outdoors (based on appropriate and safe weather conditions).
  • Involves sitting approximately 30% of the day, walking or standing the remainder.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 20% of the time.
  • May include working prolonged periods of time standing and walking, about 95% of the day.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • The ability to observe details at close range (withing a few feet or more of the observer).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • After school
  • Monday to Friday
