POSITION SUMMARY: The Outreach Specialist is responsible for community outreach and engagement with youth and adults within the local community, programs, and agencies to educate, enroll and register participants for coordinating UAU community centers and programming. The Outreach Specialist is an adaptive and dynamic individual that can connect with community members, deliver compelling presentations to community groups, and develop a network of youth, adults, and service providers.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
· Develop and implement outreach plan to recruit and retain adult participants by forming a familiarity with the local neighborhood, schools and organizations through a variety of platforms.
· Assist with the development and growth of relationships with local, community groups, programs, and agencies.
· Effectively performs outreach and recruitment of non-custodial father to engage and enroll them as participants with UAU.
· Register and enroll a minimum of 5 adult participants.
· Outreach and engage adults in outdoor public spaces.
· Record and manage outreach efforts and attendance for activities, in a effective, constructive and organized manner.
· Maintain accurate outreach notes and other records in accordance with UAU and DYCD protocols and policies and procedures.
· Develop relationships and actively engage with single fathers acclimating back into the community
· Act as a credible messenger with strong community connections.
· Communicate with and serve non-English speaking participants
· Provide adult resources in the areas of recreation, health, civic engagement, leadership, and other enrichment activities as needed
· Abide by all safety protocols as outlined by Department of Health/OCFS,DYCD and UAU.
· Provide support and advocacy to participants.
· Public speaking to audiences of varying sizes and offer and create program presentations
· Assists team members in the delivery of daily services, including providing positive modeling, peer counseling, support and encouragement to participants
· Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· 18 years old, required
· High School diploma or GED (Highschool Equivalency Diploma), required
· Valid Driver’s license required
· 1 year experience working with adults
· 1 year minimum of community outreach
· Bilingual – English/ Spanish preferred
· Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based perspective
· Must be culturally competent - ability to understand, be sensitive to the needs of, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures and age ranges
· Must pass reference checks and background as designated by DOH, DOE, DYCD and UAU
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Strong knowledge of excel, word, power point, social media platforms, email
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Demonstrated ability to conduct and complete work independently
· Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed & work flexible hours as needed
· Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes

· Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need.

· May include travel to a variety of locations, based on departmental and organizational needs. Which is reimbursed in accordance with UAU’s fiscal policies and procedures. Also requires a reliable mode of transportation.
· Working both indoors and outdoors (based on appropriate and safe weather conditions).
· Involves sitting approximately 50% of the day, walking or standing the remainder.
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 20% of the time.
· May include working prolonged periods of time standing and walking, about 95% of the day.
· The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
· The ability to observe details at close range (withing a few feet or more of the observer).
