Job Summary
Incumbent is to provide comprehensive dental care to our patients. This role involves diagnosing, treating, and advising on various dental issues. You should possess a wide range of expertise in addressing teeth and gum problems, ranging from routine plaque removal to advanced procedures such as dental implant placement. Your primary objective will be to promote and maintain good oral health among our patients. This position will also educate individuals about preventive dental care practices. By encouraging regular check- ups, emphasizing proper oral hygiene routines, you will contribute to the long-term well-being of our patients.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on patient care as scheduled.
- Examine patients’ medical records.
- Prepare patients for treatment.
- Performing exams and evaluating X-rays to determine a patient’s health.
- Develop treatment plans to deal with any dental health issues.
- Administering or prescribing medications to decrease pain and improve patient health.
- Instruct patients on proper oral care.
- Referring patients to a specialist as needed.
- Develop, maintain and implement formal dental clinic policies and procedures; guide dentists and professional staff to deliver consistent standards of care according to policies and assuring clinical practices are above reproach and of the highest quality.
- Evaluate the professional staff to ensure performance goals related to production, clinical quality and regulatory compliance are met.
- Collaborate with the Healthcare Clinical Operations Director and other clinic management to ensure smooth operation of dental clinic and programs including staffing and patient visit ratios, scheduling, cost- benefit of programs; advise on facilities and equipment purchases and repairs.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews each quarter or as required.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with insurance carriers and billing agencies (internal or external).
- Oversee accuracy of dental billing procedures : including review and documentation of insurance claims, insurance denials and patient financial issues in collaboration with billing agencies.
- Develop digital dental clinical and business forms in compliance with ADA recommendations, and CDA guidelines that are in collaboration with and compatible with the current EMR system.
- Develop and update Dental Department Policy and Procedures Manual at least annually and as needed in compliance with ADA and CDA.
- Resolve dental patient complaints and questions in a trackable timely manner.
- Oversee accreditation process as it relates to dental clinic.
- Ensure the Dental Clinic is audit ready at all times.
- Conduct peer review of dental charts on a daily basis and as required.
- Hire, train, supervise and evaluate the performance of the dental staff.
- Ensure backup employee coverage for all positions as well as cross-training.
- Provide ongoing training to dental staff and opportunities for continuing education.
- Supervise dental interns and develop internal pathways to internship from dental clinic.
- Coordinate outreach activities to promote UAII’s Dental services.
- Participate in management meetings and annual planning processes to support UAII’s Dental Clinic objectives and implementation of the strategic plan.
- Represent UAII’s Dental Clinic at community meetings and events.
- Prepare written, statistical, and fiscal reports and perform other duties as assigned.
- Keep Healthcare Clinical Operations Director informed of concerns and issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
