$70,000 - $100,000

Base $70,000 expectations of 17.5 therapy sessions per week.

Bonuses paid for 20-25 therapy sessions per week and earn $500 to $1,250 per pay period (bi-weekly).

DEPARTMENT: Clinical and Family Services

SUMMARY: The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing speech services to infants, children and/or adults to facilitate communication. The person in this position is responsible for the overall program planning, organizing and implementing treatment approaches, and periodic assessment services as it applies to speech therapy services for the individual on his/her caseload.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Graduate of an accredited speech language program and hold a current license to practice speech therapy in the State of California. Obtain and maintain Infant/Child/Adult CPR and First Aid Certificate.

Language Ability: Must possess ability to read, write and understand English. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Must have ability to present information with clarity to all stakeholders orally and in written reports.

Math Ability: Knowledge and ability to work with mathematical concepts as appropriate to position.

Computer Skills: Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other programs as needed in position.

Driving Skills: Must possess a valid CDL and have clean driving record as well as operate a vehicle in good working order for employee transportation. Must have proof of ongoing auto insurance on personal vehicle.

DUTIES:

  1. Conduct initial and periodic speech and language assessments with individuals to:
    1. determine current receptive and expressive communication skill levels
    2. determine the individual's progress in meeting the outcomes outlined on the IFSP/IEP/IPP plan and previous assessment
    3. address potential augmentative communication needs
    4. assist in identifying family/educator/caregiver concerns and issues
    5. suggest areas to be addressed in the new IFSP/IEP/IPP.
  2. Plan and implement therapy sessions based on assessment findings. Provide suggestions as well as family/caregiver/teacher training on techniques to help meet their individual's identified needs. Respond to the individual's changing needs by making adjustments to the intervention plan.
  3. Collaborate with other UCP disciplines serving each individual as needed to best meet the needs of the individual being served.
  4. Maintain written documentation of visits and assessments, to include completing and filing paperwork in a timely fashion according to department policy.
  5. Participate in IFSP/IEP/IPP meetings upon request.
  6. Maintain good communication with families, Regional Center Service Coordinators, school staff, UCP staff, and others working with the individual and their family.
  7. Maintain current license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state of California.
  8. Adhere to Speech Language Pathology's Code of Ethics.
  9. Participate in staff development and in-service education to learn new treatments, procedures, developmental skills etc.
  10. Participate in staff meetings.
  11. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
