Team Leader
Position Summary:
The Team Leader is responsible for supporting adults who have intellectual/developmental disabilities with vocational, life enrichment, and recreational activities in a variety of environments. This position may include duties related to any/all of the following:
- Job coaching
- Life enrichment and recreational activities on site and in the community
- Supporting UCP program initiatives to assist individuals in preparing for and/or attaining competitive employment.
The Team Leader provides support in a caring and professional manner by maintaining appropriate boundaries and providing a safe, consistent, and positive environment. Dedication, commitment, and good attendance are essential to success in this role.
Essential Functions:
Some duties of a Team Leader may include, but are not limited to:
- Providing direction and general supervision of Team Members
- Acting as a role model by demonstrating appropriate workplace behavior and actively participating in UCP programs and activities
- Providing and maintaining a healthy, safe, and positive learning/work environment
- Using creative techniques to teach specific job skills to Team Members and working alongside Team Members as needed to support them in their roles and responsibilities
- Assisting Team Members with carrying out the steps of habilitation training plans
- Facilitating enrichment, recreational, and life skill activities both on site and out in the community
- Assisting Team Members in completing required paperwork
- Successfully managing challenging behavioral issues in compliance with company policies and industry best practices
- Assisting Team Members in maintaining appropriate workplace hygiene, which may include assisting individuals in the restroom, etc.
- Settling minor disputes among Team Members, maintaining communication with supervisors, and acting as a liaison between Team Members and UCP management and administrative staff as needed.
- Completing required documentation in a professional and timely manner
- Following all organizational policies, procedures, and safety guidelines at all times
- Creating and maintaining professional working relationships with all persons receiving services, guardians, service providers, fellow staff, supervisors, community partners, and all other stakeholders
- Attend and actively participate in all required meetings/trainings
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age with a valid photo ID and proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have reliable method of travel to work site
- Must demonstrate a desire to work with people with disabilities, and a willingness to learn. Experience working with people with disabilities preferred
- Must have the ability to lift objects weighing 25 –75 pounds, with assistance, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to be punctual and maintain regular attendance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current, valid Driver’s License and clean DMV record strongly preferred (Most Team Leader positions will require driving company and/or personal vehicles – exceptions must be approved prior to an offer of employment and will be made based on the needs of the organization)
- Possession of a safe, registered and insured vehicle preferred (UCP provides mileage reimbursement for any approved, work-related travel in an employee’s personal vehicle)

Director of Programs, Assistant Director of Programs, Site Supervisors, Human Resources, and the CEO of United Cerebral Palsy of Nevada
Reports To:
Site Supervisor, Assistant Site Supervisor, and Director of Programs
Classification and Required Conditions of Employment
- Part-Time; Non-Exempt
- Starting Pay: $15.00 per hour
- Shift hours are typically Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
- FBI Criminal Background Check (A list of disqualifying convictions is available upon request. Paid for by UCP)
- CPR/First Aid Certified (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. Paid for by UCP)
- Please be prepared to provide at least three references, two of which should be professional references
