Reporting to the Recreation Manager, the Recreation Event Coordinator plans, organizes, assigns, implements, and evaluates a variety of recreational programs and activities for diverse groups of people, including children and adults, by scheduling activities, hiring and training volunteers, promoting programs, and ensuring safety standards are met. The Recreation Event Coordinator will be responsible for a monthly recreation newsletter.
Essential Functions:
· Program development and implementation:
Assist in design, plan, and execute a variety of recreational programs based on community needs, including field trips, arts and crafts, special events, and more.
· Volunteer management:
Select, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with events and programs.
· Marketing and promotion:
Create and distribute promotional materials to advertise recreation programs and attract participants. Maintain monthly Recreation newsletter.
- Budgeting and financial oversight:
Monitor program budgets, track expenses, and manage revenue generated from program fees.
· Participant registration and communication:
Manage registration processes, collect fees, and communicate program details to participants.
· Needs assessment and evaluation:
Conduct surveys and evaluations to assess participant satisfaction and identify areas for program improvement. Reports out findings post activity/event.
· Compliance with regulations:
Ensure adherence to all applicable safety regulations and guidelines.
Required Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
· Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with volunteers, participants, employees, managers.
· Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain attention to detail.
· Tech-Savvy: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable learning new software tools.
· Training Ability: Comfortable facilitating small group training sessions, with the ability to present information clearly and engage volunteers and participants.
· Interpersonal Skills: Approachable and professional demeanor with a focus on creating a positive first impression for participants and their families.
· Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality for sensitive subjects.
· Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, community centers, Park and Recreation departments, camps etc.
· Customer Service Orientation: Strong ability to provide excellent support and assistance to participants and volunteers.
· Decision making: Ability to demonstrate good decision-making, problem-solving and independent judgment skills.
· Reliability: Regular and predictable attendance.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
