Respite Companion

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Respite Companion to provide support and care for individuals with special needs, including those with autism. The ideal candidate will have experience in home community care or group home settings and possess the skills necessary to ensure a safe and nurturing environment. This role involves meal preparation, patient monitoring, and medication administration, while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect client privacy.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs.
• Monitor clients’ health and report any changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain a clean and organized living space for clients.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and personal development.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
• Follow all safety protocols, including CPR procedures when necessary.

Requirements

• Experience working with individuals with autism or in nursing home settings is preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality.
• Ability to perform patient monitoring effectively.
• Skills in meal preparation that cater to specific dietary requirements.
• Familiarity with medication administration practices is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and healthcare providers.
• A clean background check is required prior to employment.
