The Manager of Special Projects is a part-time role providing research support related to housing, homelessness, and health equity. The Manager of Special Projects will assist in the identification of best practices and evidence-based policy and will support community education and outreach. This role also supports the coordination of the Johnson County Continuum of Care on homelessness and will provide support as needed in the administration of the Human Service Fund and Substance Use Continuum of Care Fund grant programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and data analysis for policy recommendations related to housing, health equity, and other topics as needed.
- Prepare reports and presentations that communicate research findings that are clear and impactful.
- Provide training and meeting facilitation.
- Assist with data entry and analysis for Johnson County Continuum of Care (CoC)on homelessness Point in Time count, Coordinated Entry, and Equity & Disparity Report
- Support the Director of Community Planning in planning, hosting, and documenting CoC related meetings
- As needed, assist the Director of Resource Allocation in the review of grant submissions, compilation of applications, and preparation of recommendation reports; support the review of semiannual and annual grant reports, and assist in the improvement and streamlining of the grant administration process.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible work experience in a community organization, including research and project management. Experience in the following is helpful: planning and coordination of human service programs; data analysis and synthesis; communications; grant management; resource development; and grant application analysis.
Knowledge & Skill:
- Research experience, including familiarity with various quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Written communication skills, including business writing, grant writing, report writing, summarizing, and editing skills.
- Oral communication skills, including presentations to individuals, small, and large groups.
- Social media communication skills, including development and implementation of content across multiple platforms.
- Facilitation skills, including agenda development, ability to help groups focus, ability to use group decision making to gain commitment, and ability to encourage participation.
- Time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
- Leadership skills, including strategic planning skills, goal setting skills, assessment skills, collaboration skills and complex decision-making skills.
- Working knowledge of health and human service sector in Johnson County, Kansas.
- Understanding of substance abuse and local resources is desirable, as well as understanding social determinants of health and factors related to poverty, foster care, juvenile justice and child-in-need-of-care systems, domestic violence and child abuse.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience accessing and analyzing public data sources (for example, data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment).
