United Direct Solutions is looking for a full time Machine Operator for our Presort Facility in Cincinnati, OH.
Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:30AM- 3:30PM, Saturdays as needed
SUMMARY
General knowledge of United States Postal Services (USPS) directives pertaining to Automation Compatible Mail, general operating knowledge of the Multiline Optical Character Reader (MLOCR) mail sorter/bar coding machine; and ability to maintain attention to detail to meet quality assurance standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operates the automatic sorter/bar coder in accordance with manufacturer specifications and technical data. Selects computer processing schemes for categories of mail to be processed and extracts computer generated volume reports.
- Feeds mail onto the letter transport system, monitors computer generated real time sorting data and operates the control panel.
- Trains newly assigned personnel on automatic sorter operations, safety requirements and emergency procedures. Coordinated machine operations with mail sorters/sweepers to provide smooth work flow and adherence to quality assurance standards.
- Monitors bar code application process, ink status and system operation.
- Ensures processed mail is properly trayed/labeled and otherwise packaged and loaded for delivery to the USPS acceptance facility.
- Prepared required USPS forms/reports for mail acceptance; maintains production logs/worksheets and customer requested data; and verifies production volume report printouts.
- Performs daily maintenance of sorter/bar coder
- Responsible for compliance with company personnel and safety policies and informs supervisory personnel of deficiencies.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
