Job Description
United is seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Supervising Engineer with experience supporting Power Generation and Heaving Industrial Projects in either our Mt. Laurel, NJ or Charlotte, NC offices. Responsibilities include managing electrical project activities from conception through construction including supporting electrical site work. The successful applicant can look forward to projects including simple and combined cycle powerplants, nuclear projects, and plant retrofits throughout the United States that require all facets of electrical engineering and design.
The successful candidate will lead a team of electrical engineers supporting our growing work for the Conventional Generation and heavy industrial projects. Work entails managing, scope, schedule, budget and approval of design documents consisting of:
Equipment specifications, data sheets, calculations, and analysis as required to support the design and configuration control process.
Equipment specifications include transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and UPS/DC.
Calculations include electrical studies including short circuit, voltage drop, coordination and arc flash studies using OTI-ETAP software.
Electrical design documents including single-line diagrams and panel schedules, schematic and wiring diagrams, electrical physical and raceway drawings, lighting and grounding plans, and cable schedules.
Supervisory responsibilities include review of proposals, schedules and budgets; monitoring and reporting budget and schedule performance; and providing technical leadership to engineers and designers for the electrical discipline.
Lead and support electrical engineering and design activities on a project.
Coordinate activities with clients, contractors, vendors and other members of the project teams.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
Professional Engineering (PE) License in any state in the U.S. with ability to obtain licensure in other states by comity.
8 years overall experience in the design of electrical systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
3 years in a leadership position
Familiarity with standard plant design processes, and experience preparing engineering drawings including but not limited to wiring diagrams and schematics.
Familiarity with IEEE, EPRI, industry codes and standards.
Good written and oral communication skills. Must be able to interface with other members of the project team including other disciplines, clients, contractors and vendors.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Expertise using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Teams.
Must be a Citizen of the U.S. or Canada and able to obtain unescorted access to a U.S. Nuclear Power Plant.
Preferred Requirements:
M.S. in Electrical Engineering.
10 years of conventional generation or industrial design experience.
