About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Operations Specialist to join our team at United Gear & Assembly. As a CNC Machine Operator, you will be responsible for performing machine operations on Mills, Lathes, Grinders, Hobs, and Broaches.
Key Responsibilities
- You will read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of parts to determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, setup, and operating needs.
- Mount work pieces between centers, in chucks, or to faceplates manually or using hoists.
- Install preset tooling in tool posts, turrets, or indexing heads, and automatic-tool-change magazines, in sequence specified on process sheets.
- Operate machine tools by depressing buttons, toggles, and starting machining operations.
- Verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of machining cuts by observing numerical displays on control panels and comparing with data on process sheets.
- Adjust machine performance by turning dials and switches, applying practical knowledge of lathe operation.
- Inspect first-run pieces and spot-check succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications, using micrometers and precision dial gauges.
- Organize materials for next runs to shorten changeover times.
- You may set tools before positioning them in lathes, using precision gauges and instruments.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
- You should be computer literate with the ability to learn and work statistical and manufacturing software applications.
- Duties require strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Microsoft Office Professional, Word, Excel, statistical, and manufacturing software skills are a plus.
Work Schedule and Compensation
The position involves working Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., with some intermittent overtime on Fridays. The hourly wage is $21-21.
