The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance to all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
About The Role
United Health Services, the largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare services in upstate New York's Southern Tier, is hiring a Staff Registered Nurse, Ambulatory Surgery to join our team at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. The Surgical unit works as a team to successfully complete surgical procedures. The unit also cares for patients pre and post operation. The operations completed are a broad range of procedures and vast majority of cases are able to go home same day.
Schedule: 8 hour shifts, Monday – Friday

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Managing admission process
- Releasing orders, reviewing charts, obtaining consents
- Prepping patient for operation – IVs, administering medication
- Monitoring patients post operation
- A valid NY RN license
- Med Surg experience needed
- Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory surgery setting
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
- Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.
