Role Overview : Survey Manager

As a Survey Manager at United Infrastructure Group (UIG), you will provide essential surveying services for construction projects, including bridges, highways, foundations, and other heavy civil projects. Your role involves precise measurements, data collection, and calculations to ensure accurate construction layouts and property boundaries. You will also prepare and maintain detailed records, maps, and legal documents related to survey work, and coordinate findings with engineers, architects, clients, and other stakeholders.

Typical Duties include but are not limited to :

  • Provide construction survey and layout services on bridges, highways, foundations, and other heavy civil projects.
  • Assist with survey computations and data collection, including construction layout calculations, grade sheet computation, topographical / volume analysis, and project datum conversion / transformation.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed.
  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
  • Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.
  • Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
  • Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.
  • Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS).
  • Adjust surveying instruments to maintain their accuracy.
  • Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements.
  • Survey bodies of water to determine navigable channels and to secure data for the construction of breakwaters, piers, and other marine structures.
  • Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience :

  • 10 years' experience with Heavy Highway and Civil Survey; bachelor's degree preferred with 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience with analytical or scientific software, AutoCAD
  • Trimble & Topcon, Total Station Robotic Survey Equipment, and GPS machine control support.
  • 3D Modeling required.
  • Ability to supervise and manage a site crew.
  • Ability to build TIN / BIM maps
  • Must observe safety procedures and report any potentially unsafe conditions to management.
  • Valid Driver's License and good driving record required.
  • Ability to use a smartphone, iPad, and computer.
  • REQUIREMENTS : ALL Applicants must be :

  • 18 years of Age
  • Able to pass a Drug Test
  • Legally Eligible to Work in the US
  • Open to working different shifts if needed by the project
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from jobsite every workday (driver's license preferred)
  • Must provide own hand tools (excluding power tools)
  • Willingness to travel for project requirements (multi-state opportunities)
