OVERALL ROLE:

The Needle Loom Weaver sets up and tends to shuttleless looms.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tend shuttleless looms equipped with filling-carrier needle that weave narrow fabrics such as ribbon, tape, and elastic.
- Place filling-yarn packages on holders and thread ends through guides, tensions and needle carriers using loom hook.
- Read loom diagram to draw in looms
- Patrol area to examine woven fabric for defects and to determine cause of loom stoppage such as warp, binder, filler or catch breaks.
- Tie broken ends and re-start loom.
- Notify Supervisor of defective weaving caused by mechanical defects.
- Cut out boxes when specified yardage has been woven, replace bin and re-start loom.
- Draw-in thread and tie-in warp, binder and/or stuffer yarns through harness for change overs to new patterns
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working on Muller shuttleless looms
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up-to 30-pound packages to a height of 72 inches on a regular basis.
- Must be able to perform simple calculations.
- Ability to fill out required paperwork neatly.
- Must be dependable, positive attitude, good work ethic, reliable attendance, good communication skills, good comprehension skills
