Job Overview
United Methodist Homes is seeking a passionate and dedicated Certified Activities Director to join our team at Elizabeth Church Manor. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for residents in our senior care community. This role requires a deep understanding of the unique needs of seniors, particularly those in memory care and assisted living environments. The Activities Director will play a crucial role in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere that promotes social interaction, cognitive engagement, and emotional well-being. Must be certified in recreational therapy.
Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and abilities of residents, including those with dementia and other memory-related conditions.
- Plan and organize events that encourage participation from all residents, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.
- Collaborate with caregivers and staff to assess individual resident needs and preferences to create personalized activity plans. Assess new residents upon arrival
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and gather feedback on activities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities to evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
- Participate in case conferences
- Serve on the QA/PI committee
- Cooridnate volunteers
- Transport residents to activities
- Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Foster relationships with local organizations to enhance activity offerings through community involvement.
Requirements
- Experience in senior care settings such as assisted living or long-term care is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care principles and best practices is essential.
- Strong event planning skills with the ability to create engaging programs that cater to diverse interests.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- A background in caregiving or related fields is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
- A compassionate approach towards seniors, demonstrating patience and understanding in all interactions.
- Required to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary
