Aircraft data collection and analysis requires a broad skillset with the ability to multi-task. The day-to-day operation involves technical review, system troubleshooting, problem solving, and verbal/written communications. With a combination of near term and long-term tasks and projects, prioritization and time management is essential. Attention to detail and organizational skill is critical. The ability to handle distractions is a must in this dynamic work environment.
Job Summary
The FOQA Analyst collects and analyzes aircraft data to determine safety of flight issues within the UPS operation. The FOQA Analyst maintains all FOQA hardware and databases daily while supporting various UPS working groups by providing aircraft data, statistical reports, and other information requested. The FOQA Analyst generates reports for the Airline Safety Manager to identify hazards and assist with risk assessment and subsequent mitigation recommendations. The FOQA Analyst generates presentations and briefs UPS working groups.
Detailed Job Description
a) Maintains and organizes the FOQA office
b) Manages, maintains, and secures trend and event databases
c) Generates all necessary reports to include Power BI dashboards and data visualizations
d) Works with representatives from Flight, Training, Maintenance, Engineering, and the IPA in trend analysis and data collection
e) Assists other Airline Safety personnel with duties, and performs their duties in their absence
f) Maintains FOQA Ground Data Replay Systems
g) Coordinates the installation, set-up, and acceptance testing of all ground equipment hardware, software, and peripherals, including ground replay and analysis and flight animation systems
h) Responds to requests for flight data from outside the Airline Safety Department
i) Processes and tracks all data obtained from airborne data acquisition equipment
j) Assists the FOQA Monitoring Team in routine event analysis and validation
k) Identifies maintenance events and notifies Airline Safety Supervisor/Manager
l) Maintains FOQA systems including coordinating with vendors to troubleshoot and diagnose problems and installing system upgrades
m) Maintains a log of ground systems upgrades and modifications, including verification and testing
n) Maintains a log to document configuration of event set descriptions and revisions
Requirements:
Must have a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) or be a UPS employee with a minimum of three years of UPS experience
Possesses proficiency and proven experience in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Power Bi, Excel)
Interpersonal Skills
Displays proficiency in verbal and written communication with superior attention to detail and professionalism
Ability to speak to large audiences
Ability to interact with various organizations within and outside of UPS to include operations, training, maintenance, engineering, information technology, and associated vendors.
A self-starter who can work independently coupled with a team-oriented attitude.
Preferences:
Knowledge of data analysis principles and basic programming knowledge.
Aviation background with an understanding of basic aircraft systems
