Job Description:
The Airline Safety Manager is responsible for safety oversight of UPS Airline’s safety program. The Airline Safety Manager reports to the Director of Airline Safety. The Airline Safety Manager is responsible for developing and promoting the Airline’s safety programs, including all aspects of the Safety Management System including emergency response activities.
Responsibilities of the Airline Safety Manager:
Manage the Airline’s Safety Management System and voluntary safety programs
Coordinate System Safety development and implementation
Develop and manage Airline Emergency Response activities
Serve as UPS point-of-contact for communication with the FAA, NTSB, international aviation authorities, air carriers, and other external entities on safety related matters
Manage the collection and analysis of the Airline’s safety data
Coordinate and control the removal, download and information distribution of incident/accident QAR/DFDR/CVR
Promote safety through communication, education, and outreach activities
Coordinate internal and/or external incident/accident investigations
Perform data/trend analysis to identify safety trends and potential hazards across all functional operations
Perform system assessments to determine conformity with existing safety controls
Collaborate on the selection, acquisition, installation, and monitoring of all safety related technology
Maintain oversight of the Family Assistance Support Team
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
5 years of aviation industry experience
Cultivate relationships with and manage communications with key regulators, including FAA
Preferred:
Related experience in Aviation Safety
Experience in safety training
3 years of experience in aviation safety
Project management experience
Public speaking experience
