Summary of Essential Functions
- Responsible for one of the three Multi-Skilled Tech areas of responsibilities:
- ECG Area - Ability to perform ECGs, matches ECGs with orders, knowledge to retrieve and edit ECGs from carts and the MUSE system. Posts EKG charges and corrections on a daily basis.
- Pre and Post Area - Explains & provides necessary documents to patients and enters required data in computer. Takes vital signs when monitoring patients. Performs assigned transport processes to and from Pre and Post Area. Assists nursing staff with patient care duties.
- Scheduling Area – Maintains schedules and appointments for department to ensure efficient utilization of resources. Accepts reservations from physician’s office and ensures that all required information is obtained and available. Reviews schedule to ensure that an appropriate time is available. Verifies and clarifies order to be processed via licensed personnel. Explains & provides information to visitors regarding procedures to keep them updated.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Licenses and Certifications
- CPR Basic arrhythmia required in the first six months of employment
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must be able to effectively and courteously communicate with other persons.
- Demonstrate patience, tact, diplomacy and persistence in daily contact with patients and physicians.
- Previous ECG, nurse’s aide or unit clerk experience, and computer skills preferred.
- Ability to concentrate on moderate detail with some interruption.
- Must be able to relate specific ideas generally, several at a time and remember multiple tasks given at one time or over a period of time.
Physical Requirements
- Moderate amount of lifting and positioning of patients and equipment as well as, transportation of patients via cart or wheelchair.
- Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time as well as walking and sitting; see small objects, have good eye-hand coordination and hear normal sounds with background noises.
- Subject to electrical, radiation and biohazards.
- Working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids
Duties and Responsibilities
- Duties and responsibilities will vary depending on area of responsibility as described in the Summary of Essential Functions.
- EKG Area – Match EKGs with orders, retrieves and edits from carts of Posts EKG charges and corrections on a daily basis.
- Scheduling Area – Maintain schedule, answers phones, prepares for the next day, and contacts doctor’s offices to get all paperwork in order.
- Pre and Post Area – Takes vital signs when monitoring patients, transports patients, entered orders, and makes charges.
- Assists in maintaining stock levels in the department, notifying coordinator or responsible staff member of low par levels.
- Performs all other tasks/responsibilities as necessary.
