Position Title
Director of Chapter and Hospital Relations and Engagement
Position Summary
The Director of Chapter and Hospital Relations and Engagement will lead and manage the relationship between United Spinal Association’s national office and our network of chapters and hospitals across the country. This key role is responsible for fostering collaboration, strengthening engagement, and ensuring effective communication and support between the chapters, the hospitals and national headquarters. The Director will be responsible for driving the strategic growth and impact of the chapter and hospital networks, ensuring alignment with United Spinal's mission and goals, and enhancing the overall member experience.
o Full-Time, remote position with willingness to travel periodically.
o Approximately 10% travel to visit chapters and hospitals, attend meetings, and participate in key events.
o Benefits include health, dental, vision, basic life, long term disability, 401k, FSA, PTO and paid holidays.
Salary: $75,000 to $85,000
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Chapter Relationship Management:
o Serve as the primary point of contact for all United Spinal chapters, providing support, guidance, and fostering a positive and collaborative relationship.
o Ensure chapters are equipped with the resources, training, and information they need to successfully fulfill their mission.
o Actively engage with chapter leaders to assess needs, address challenges, and provide assistance where necessary.
Chapter Engagement & Retention:
o Develop and implement strategies to engage chapter and hospitals, to maximize participation and retention.
o Create and manage programs to enhance chapter activities, increase volunteer involvement, and promote chapter events.
o Monitor chapter and hospital satisfaction and engagement through surveys, feedback, and regular communication.
o Act in a consulting capacity, provide coaching and guidance in all aspects of chapter operations and organizational development to assist chapters in the process of capacity building and continuous improvement.
o Plan and execute annual Chapter Leadership Meeting event.
Training & Development:
o Develop and facilitate training programs for chapter leaders, volunteers, and staff to ensure they are equipped to meet the needs of their local communities and align with national goals.
o Coordinate and lead periodic chapter leader meetings to promote collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and best practices.
o Assist chapters in building highly capable and effective boards by providing guidance on current best practices in governance. Plan and implement board relation training sessions.
Communication & Collaboration:
o Serve as a liaison between the chapters and the national office, ensuring that chapter needs, concerns, and successes are communicated effectively.
o Foster a strong sense of community and collaboration among chapters and hospitals through regular updates, networking opportunities, and information sharing.
Program Support & Expansion:
o Assist in the development and implementation of national initiatives and campaigns, ensuring chapter involvement and alignment.
o Identify opportunities to expand and grow the chapter and hospital networks, including supporting the launch of new chapters or regions and recruiting new hospitals.
o Promote understanding of United Spinal programs and initiatives across the chapter and hospitals network.
- Strategic Planning & Reporting:
o Work with senior leadership to develop and implement a strategic plan for chapters and hospitals engagement and growth.
o Track chapter performance and provide regular reports on key metrics related to engagement, satisfaction, and chapter growth.
o Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement based on data and feedback.
Hospital Network Management:
- Process Annual Renewals
- Update member contact information.
- Create and distribute invoices to all members.
- Email members with invoices, applications, and invitation flyers.
- Process renewals and payments while maintaining accurate database records.
- Ensure timely preparation and distribution of participation certificates to members.
- Manage Logistics for Program Materials
- Ship backpacks and other materials as required to members or centers.
- Develop and distribute engaging newsletters every two months to keep members informed.
- Offer hospitals opportunities to learn about services and programs through Lunch & Learn sessions.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience:
o Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, or a related field.
o Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit management, community engagement, or related fields.
o Experience working with individuals with disabilities and knowledge of the spinal cord injury/disorder (SCI/D) and wheelchair user community is highly preferred.

o Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across diverse groups.
o Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
o Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire teams, volunteers, and chapter leaders.
o Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and complex issues with discretion and empathy.
o Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).
